Welcome to my corner! I’m Ruth Smith – mama of four, homeschool teacher, ER nurse, and real estate broker. Most parents, like me, wear multiple hats over the course of the week. Full schedules and daily stressors can make it difficult to find ways to cut costs. I’d like to share some of my tips and tricks that help our busy household run smoothly and efficiently, and which help save our family money that can be put to use elsewhere in real estate investments or other financial endeavors.
Deciding what to cook for dinner might not seem like a big deal in the moment, but consistency over time can turn small money-saving habits into key investment strategies. Here are some of my go-to recipes that get good food on the table quickly for a much lower price than eating out. I make a lot of my recipes in large batches to freeze and save for later, since saving time is often just as important as saving money in a busy household. It’s easier to resist the temptation of fast-food restaurants when there are a few meals on hand in the freezer. Each recipe will include a break-down of cost per serving, along with comparisons to similar meals at restaurants. The challenge is to take the money saved and find a way to invest it and put those dollars to work for your family.
